Please be aware that there are still some unscrupulous people who offer valuable items on Freecycle and then ask for a fee, or a payment for the "courier", before they will send the item.
Such requests are, in our experience, always fraudulent. There is no intention to send you any items and the items don't even exist. These people simply want your money. When they say that although they offered the item in the Harrow group they have in fact moved hundreds of miles away, that is a particular warning sign that you are dealing with a fraudster.
Everything offered on Freecycle must be totally free of charge. You should never ask for any form of payment, or offer any payment. If anyone requests a payment from you, please report this to the Moderators of the group. If you are defrauded in a scam, you should report this to the police but there may be very little they can do about it.
Thank you for making Freecycle a success for yourselves and others!
