Please note that one of the goals of Freecycle is to reduce pollution as well as waste. To that end, posts that say things will be "left by the curb" or "put out a pile of xyz, first come, first serve" encourages people to drive through your neighborhood looking for items that may no longer be present. This behavior is discouraged and not inline with Freecycle community goals. This increases polution and wastes everyone's time. In addition, while this is a community of good will, you never know who may see your publicly posted address and come looking for your residence. Freecycle is not responsible for any criminal acts due to you posting your address publicly for any person to find.
The recommended procedure is to exchange messsages and arrange a pick up time, date and place. Then items may be left out for pick up. While more time consuming, it is more inline with the goals of Freecycle.
