Hello Freecycle Members, I want to take a moment to address the multiple animal-related WANTED and OFFER posts that have been frequently posted. The Morristown Group has come to the decision that they are no longer allowing animals to be posted as WANTED or OFFERED posts. This entails posts seeking multiple animals or animals for breeding or resale due to the many unknown abuses this may entail. If a member wants an animal, it is advised for the member to visit a shelter or rescue. If a member is not able to afford adopting an animal that usually entails the member will not be able to care for the animal either.
Vetting prospective animals takes a lot of time and is not always guaranteed. Persons placing such posts need to realize that while this is a moderated list we cannot screen potential quality of potential homes. Finding a home is not as simple as the first person who responds to your notification. The Morristown group feels that someone who responds may not be able to provide a proper and loving home for your animal and we urge you to explore other opportunities to re-home those animals such as your local Humane Society or breed rescues. They accept pets at no charge to you and find them a good home. Here at Freecycle, we understand that you have a large network of people from which to see if you can find a home or get an animal from, but leaving that to the professionals is the decisions we have come to terms with.
