In common with everything internet connected Freecycle(r) suffers from the attentions of malign actors. Most of the time their activities are supressed. Now and again something appears which looks suspicious and generally, if it looks suspicious, that's what it is.
If you suspect something, report it to us, the moderators, and we'll fix it. Above all, never disclose anything money or finance related.
